Figure 2.9 is a bar chart that shows percentages of past month illicit drug use among youths aged 12 to 17 in 2002 by racial and ethnic groups. Among American Indian or Alaska Native youths, 20.9 percent had used any illicit drug in the past month. Among white youths and youths who indicated two or more races, 12.6 and 12.5 percent had used illicit drugs in the past month. Among Hispanic youths, 10.7 percent had used illicit drugs in the past month and 10.0 percent of black or African American youths had used illicit drugs in the past month. Among Asian youths, 4.8 percent had used illicit drugs in the past month.
