FIRE FIGHTING

The Fire Fighting mission is to prevent the loss of life and property from fire. Fire Fighting units are trained to fight building, aircraft, hazardous materials, wild land (grass, brush, forests, etc.) and miscellaneous fires (cars, dumpsters, etc.). They are also trained in alarm center operations, preventive and operator maintenance on firefighting apparatus and equipment, and the principles of fire inspections and investigations.

mission image The Air Guard's Fire Fighting mission involves protecting people, as well as property and the environment through the following:
  • Coordinating fire protection support agreements and pre-incident plans
  • Conducting and evaluating training on specialized fire protection equipment and procedures
  • Managing and operating fire alarm communication systems
  • Inspecting facilities and identifying fire hazards
  • Controlling and extinguishing fires in aircraft, structures, wild lands and other areas
  • Investigating fires to determine origin and cause
  • Administering first aid
