The HIV program in the Division of Kidney, Urologic, and Hematologic Diseases supports basic and clinical studies on renal and genitourinary tract structure and function in individuals with HIV infection. Interests include the pathogenetic mechanisms of viral infection in the kidney and genitourinary tract, and sites of viral replication and/or spread and the resulting organ dysfunction. Studies on HIV infection focus on the effects of HIV infection and treatment on organ function and pathogenesis of HIV-associated kidney diseases.
