NTSB LAUNCHES TEAM TO INVESTIGATE STATEN ISLAND FERRY ACCIDENT

May 8, 2010

The National Transportation Safety Board has launched a go-team to today's marine accident in Staten Island, New York.�At approximately 9:22 a.m., the Staten Island Ferry Andrew Barberi collided into the St. George terminal pier.�

NTSB Board Member Robert Sumwalt is accompanying the 7 member team and will serve as the on-scene spokesman.�Marine Investigator Eric Stolzenberg has been designated as the Investigator-in-Charge.�Terry Williams is the press officer accompanying the team.

The U.S. Coast Guard is participating in the investigation.
