NTSB SENDING TEAM TO INVESTIGATE TRAIN ACCIDENT IN CALIFORNIA

September 12, 2008

The National Transportation Safety Board is sending a team of investigators to Chatsworth, California to investigate an accident involving a Metrolink passenger train and freight train.

There are reports of six fatalities and multiple injuries.

NTSB Railroad Investigator Wayne Workman will serve as Investigator-in-Charge and lead the team.  NTSB Board Member Kitty Higgins will serve as principal spokesman during the on-scene investigation. Terry Williams will accompany the team as press officer.
