    Default Laptops

    Hey everyone,

Do you have any recommendations for a laptop? I'm in the market for one, but am thinking down the road a little bit so I want to get one that will hold up well during a deployment. I've read reviews on different brands and models, but was looking for someone who has recent experience with taking a laptop on deployment. Any info would be great.

    Thanks!

    Lindsay

im just replying to your thread so you know it's been read...
i have no opinion as ive never been deployed (yet)...but i dont think it matters. from all my fellow troops that have returned from 2 deployments, laptops were never an issue but the actual time they had to get on them and connected to the internet.

Get a toughbook. They are pretty good with all the grime and such associated with deployments. Try not to do those new touchscreen ones by HP... They work great but will fail in that environment lol

They are expensive. I wouldn't pay the premium just so I could look good sitting outside my hooch as opposed to being inside (why would you anyway?)

I would go Lenovo, HP, Dell in that order. Don't spend a lot on a laptop if all you're going to do with it is surf. They depreciate 3x as fast as desktops.

I bought a $400 dollar laptop for CHBOLC, and I am well pleased with it.

I figure that there's no sense in spending a lot of money when they get viruses and get outdated so fast.

By the time this one slows or breaks, it will be time for a new $400 one.

I love it a lot. Seriously. I'm serious.

Whoa, I'm sorry! Gosh lol. I was just making a suggestion. I have one for work but that's it. My personal one is a $300 netbook with an external harddrive lol
