A collaborative effort between the National Institute of Corrections (NIC), the Center for Credentialing & Education (CCE), and the T4C program authors has produced the Thinking for a Change Certified Facilitator (T4C-CF) credential. This credential is available only to correctional professionals and those who deliver the Thinking for a Change program with offender groups or other appropriate audiences.

The T4C-CF credential is still in its initial phase; however, the response from individuals at all levels of the criminal justice profession has been overwhelming. For this reason, we are opening the initial, or “norming” period of the credentialing process. Individuals who have applied for certification and taken the exam between January 2011 and June 30, 2012 will be reviewed according to the norming requirements for the credential.

Qualified applicants who take the first examination are guaranteed provisional certification as a T4C-CF. During norming, applicants must take the examinations but passing scores are not required. This is because the examination itself is being evaluated. Because this is a norming process for a new credential, CCE reserves the right to adjust timelines as necessary to accommodate the need for adequate process review.

Why get the T4C-CF credential?

There usually is a right way and a wrong way to do most things. Invariably, doing it right reaps the best results. The T4C-CF credential indicates an individual’s ability to competently facilitate the Thinking for a Change program. The T4C-CF credential indicates the credential holder’s commitment and the commitment of the holder’s employing agency to maintaining the integrity of the T4C program.
