Defense Travel System

The Defense Travel System (DTS) is a fully integrated, automated, end-to-end travel management system that enables DoD travelers to create authorizations (TDY travel orders), prepare reservations, receive approvals, generate travel vouchers, and receive a split reimbursement between their bank accounts and the Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) vendor. DTS operates at over 9,500 total sites worldwide. On average, DTS processes more than 25,000 transactions while approximately 100,000 unique users access it on a daily basis. The Defense Business Transformation Agency (BTA) has program (technical) oversight of DTS and the Defense Travel Management Office, OUSD (P&R) has functional oversight.

DTMO focuses on making improvements to DTS to ensure that the system better meets the needs of the DoD traveler. This is being done by incorporating changes already identified through a change management process and implementing system usability improvements.
