Step-by-Step Health Advice for Women

Army Brig. Gen. (Dr.) W. Bryan Gamble, deputy director, TRICARE Management Activity, offers practical health tips for women in a new post published on TRICARE’s website. Gamble’s recommendations are:

  • Get at least two hours and 30 minutes of moderate physical activity, one hour and 15 minutes of vigorous physical activity or a combination of both each week.
  • Eat a nutritious diet that emphasizes fruits, vegetables whole grains and fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products.
  • Visit a health care professional for regular checkups and recommended preventive screenings.
  • Avoid risky behaviors, such as smoking and not wearing a seatbelt.
  • Pay attention to your mental health, including getting enough sleep and managing stress.

Gamble’s advice is timed to coincide with the observance of National Women’s Health and Fitness Day on Sept. 26. Gamble says TRICARE strongly supports the goals of National Women’s Health and Fitness Day, and encourages women in the military community to have healthy habits and take control of their health.
