Bureau of Health Professions
HRSA’s Bureau of Health Professions (BHPr) increases access to health care by developing, distributing, and retaining a diverse, culturally competent health workforce. BHPr leads HRSA’s efforts to improve the supply, capacity and distribution of primary care providers in the U.S. to treat uninsured, isolated or medically vulnerable populations, including those living with HIV/AIDS. The bureau administers programs to train future clinicians, including physicians, physician assistants, and dentists, on a host of HIV prevention, care and treatment issues. Other BHPr programs train public health professionals on HIV-related topics including retention in treatment and HIV surveillance.
