District Stability Framework (DSF) in Afghanistan

A three-day District Stability Framework Mobile Training took place at FOB Ghazni with TF White Eagle from 8-10 July 2011.

During the training course, members from the Polish PRT and USG participated in learning the methods that are used in the DSF. They will implement these methods and its tools, in order to more effectively analyze and identify which projects will address sources of instability.

Holda Radaslaw, CDR of the Polish Navy and a member of a District Development Group at Task Force White Eagle said, “This is the first time we’ve had exposure to the DSF. We have many problems in Ghazni and I think the DSF methodology will help us with these many issues.”
The District Stability Framework is designed to help stability operations implementers directly target the root causes of instability in Afghanistan, develop activities to target them, and evaluate the effectiveness of those activities. The course teaches application-level skills for tactical and operational level organizations involved in stability operations and counterinsurgency in Afghanistan.

The DSF is US DoD and COMUSFOR-A directed, unit-level training for counterinsurgency in Afghanistan. CTC-A, delivers the DSF each month on residential courses at Camp Julien and by Mobile Training Team across Afghanistan.
