The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is pleased to announce that the agency finalized its Tribal consultation policy on November 17, 2011. A Dear Tribal Leader letter and a copy of the policy was distributed by mail to all 565 Tribes and distributed through CMS and national Indian organization listservs. (Tribal Leader letter, Tribal Consultation Policy)
All Tribes Call
The CMS Tribal consultation policy will be the topic of an ALL TRIBES CALL scheduled for Friday, December 9, 2011 from 1 – 3 pm (ET). The conference call number is 1-888-637-7740 and the passcode is 538239.
The purpose of the call will be to discuss the Tribal consultation policy and to answer any questions Tribes may have. Caya Lewis, Chief of Staff, will introduce the call. Kitty Marx, Tribal Affairs Director, will provide an overview of the policy followed by a question & answer period.
