Three processes cooperate to deliver capabilities needed by warfighters: the requirements process (JCIDS); the acquisition process (DAS); and the program and budget development process (PPBE). Includes links to DoD and Service policies, guidance, tools, and resources:

In support of the DAU mission as depicted by the Performance Learning Model (PLM), DAU Mission Assistance (MA) ensures the right people are available to provide the right products and services at the right time in response to requests for support by the DoD AT&L work force and Industry partners. DAU provides practical, rapidly delivered business solutions offered to students and their organizations through on-site Consulting, Facilitated Decision Making, Rapid Deployment Training, and Targeted Training.
Associate Deans for Outreach and Mission Assistance
The process to obtain Mission Assistance can begin with a discussion with a member of the DAU faculty, or a telephone call or e-mail to one of the Associate Deans for Outreach and Mission Assistance listed above, to include the POC at the Defense Systems Management College, School of Program Management (DSMC/SPM) at 703-805-5196. As the request for support develops into a Consulting or Targeted Training event, DAU will gather the needed project information, scope, applicable charges, and a DD1144 Support Agreement will be prepared for both parties to sign.

DAU provides over 100 consulting efforts each year focusing on specific problems our customers face in their organizations. From developing program metrics measuring a programs manager's probability of program success, to creating a process for technology assessment and transition management, to supporting studies and analyses, DAU seasoned faculty and staff are ready and available to provide on-going, on-site support to our students and their organizations. Our Consulting support services are provided to DoD and civilian agencies to help them resolve acquisition-related problems. Services include, but are not limited to:
DAU can also provide your organization with use of our state-of-the-art facilitation services at your location or other DAU campuses through the use of portable computers and software.
DAU facilitates group deliberations and collaborative decision-making. Trained facilitators and structured processes assist senior DoD managers and their teams with group problem-solving and decision-making needs.
Our facilitated decision making services using ThinkTank shareware is frequently used by DoD and civilian agencies for strategic planning, team building, brainstorming and other facilitated interventions. Reservations for ThinkTank and facilitation services should be made well in advance of your organization's planned offsite.

Our Rapid Deployment Training (RDT) Initiative was established in 2003 in response to the need to more rapidly train the Defense Acquisition Workforce in new initiatives and policy changes. RDT includes quick notification and training to the acquisition workforce by posting new policy training materials online within hours after policy release and sending DAU training teams to DoD AT&L field organizations.
DTM 09-027, Implementation of the Weapon Systems Acquisition Reform Act of 2009On 4 December 2009, Dr. Ashton Carter, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics, signed Directive-Type Memorandum (DTM) 09-027. This DTM implements and institutionalizes selected requirements of the Weapon Systems Acquisition Reform Act of 2009 (Public Law 111-23). The law established a number of requirements that directly affect the operation of the Defense Acquisition System and the duties of key officials that support it. This DTM amends the Acquisition Policy in DoD Instruction 5000.02, the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and the associated business practices contained in the Defense Acquisition Guidebook.
