How to Apply and Tuition Information

USIP's Academy for International Conflict Management and Peacebuilding is currently accepting applications for its Fall 2012 courses.  Note: You do not need to apply to take an online course. Follow the directions on each online course page to participate.

Application Process

Applicants must register and apply for courses using the Course Registration and Application (CRA) system.  Course instructors will then review the applications and CV/resume. Once the instructor accepts or denies your application, you will receive notification by email. If your application is accepted, you will receive further instructions by email, including payment information.

Admission Criteria

Course participants should have relevant experience in their field, except for online courses, which are open to everyone. To enhance the learning experience, we seek participants from a wide variety of backgrounds, such as government agencies, international organizations, the nonprofit sector, the military, international development agencies, and educational institutions. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of a course.

Location

All on-campus courses are held at USIP's headquarters: 2301 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20037. Note that there is no public parking at our office for course participants.

Tuition

The tuition for on-campus courses is $1250 for four- and five-day courses, $895 for three-day courses, and $695 for two-day courses. The tuition for pilot courses is $195. Instructor-led online courses cost $345. The SENSE simulation is currently free of charge. Tuition includes the registration fee.

Once you have been accepted to a course, you will receive an email with instructions for making your payment. Tuition is due ten business days prior to the beginning of the course to reserve your place. Participants are responsible for lodging and travel, including visas.

Limited financial aid may be available for highly qualified applicants who can demonstrate financial need, and some applicants may automatically qualify. If you would like to apply for financial aid, please email academy@usip.org with a short description of your need. Our registrar will work with the instructors to review all applications and respond as soon as possible.

We are fully committed to having a diverse group of participants to enhance the learning environment and recognize that not all organizations have training budgets. Therefore, we encourage all to apply.  Note that the tuition reflects the actual cost of running the courses and will enable us to maintain the highest quality of instruction for our participants.

  • U.S. government and U.S. military personnel may use the SF-182 form to complete payment.
