Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Russlynn Ali will discuss the Obama administration’s efforts to advance equity and promote reform in education in an appearance Wednesday before the California State Assembly’s Select Committee on Boys and Men of Color.

As assistant secretary, Ali heads the Office for Civil Rights, a position she has held since 2009. OCR works to ensure equal access to education and to promote educational excellence throughout the nation through vigorous enforcement of civil rights.
