Chu Visits Site of America’s First New Nuclear Reactor in Three Decades

Just two days after the Department of Energy requested more than $770 million for nuclear energy in 2013, U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu visited the Vogtle nuclear power plant in Waynesboro, Georgia and Oak Ridge National Laboratory to highlight the steps the Obama Administration is taking to restart America’s nuclear industry as part of an all-of-the-above American energy strategy.

Nuclear Energy Enabling Technologies (NEET) Workshop Report
NEET Workshop Report This is the report on the Nuclear Energy Enabling Technologies (NEET) Workshop, which the DOE Office of Nuclear Energy held in Rockville, Md., on July 29, 2010. The NEET Program is a new activity proposed in the Department’s FY 2011 Budget Request. The primary purposes in convening the NEET workshop were to obtain stakeholder input on the crosscutting technology R&D needs to support NE’s R&D Roadmap objectives; and to inform a possible solicitation for transformative, “out-of-the-box” solutions across the full range of nuclear energy technology issues.
