Afghan National Civil Order Police are trained at Regional Training Center – Mazar-e Sharif (RTC- MeS). The last class trained by European Gendarmerie Forces (EGF)-led Coalition trainers graduated from the command April 12. The ceremony marked the end of the training mission for the EGF as well.
“This transition was really important for ANCOP,” said Capt. Bruno Gonzales, Chief of Training for RTC-MeS. “For two years, we’ve trained them to be independent, to be able to work in total independence, and in the future they will be able to train themselves and their teams.”

The ceremony concluded with graduates, who were chosen to represent the class, took the oath of service.
Afterwards, the EGF trainers deployed to MeS held another ceremony to commemorate the end of their training mission in Afghanistan, as well as the end of their time in country.
“Our part as EGF was transferring all the competencies to the Afghans—logistics, planning and all the training,” said Gonzales. “We’ve had a great time with our Afghan counterparts. However, now it’s time for us to go home.”
However, the French—the leading EGF member in MeS—has not left Afghanistan. France and Afghanistan have a 20 year partnership for which Afghans will go to France to receive advanced training.
