Chief of Staff - Steve Bosack

Chief of staff -Bosack's pictureSteve Bosack re-joined the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) in October 2009 as Chief of Staff for NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz. Mr. Bosack served as Senior Policy Advisor during Matz's first term on the NCUA Board from 2003-2005. Mr. Bosack worked with Matz on initiatives to encourage credit unions to adopt member outreach plans, new savings products, and many other services to attract consumers who are underserved by other insured financial institutions.

In the intervening years, Mr. Bosack became Deputy Director of the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) shortly after Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005. In this newly created position, Mr. Bosack played a central role in the largest disaster relief effort in credit union history: $3.5 million in grants to benefit credit unions on the U.S. Gulf Coast. Mr. Bosack helped oversee all NCUF programs including REAL Solutions, Innovation Grants, Federal Grants, Development Education, Social Impact Management, the Community Investment Fund, and disaster relief (CUAid).

From 1993-2003, Mr. Bosack served as Vice President in the Communications office of the Credit Union National Association. One of the highlights of Mr. Bosack’s CUNA career was participating in the public relations and coalition building behind the Credit Union Campaign for Consumer Choice. His team reached out to mass media and lawmakers and made the case for credit unions to legally serve more members. He helped forge relationships with the Consumer Federation of America and other consumer advocates to publicly encourage consumers to join credit unions instead of banks.  Mr. Bosack’s efforts contributed to the campaign’s ultimate success: overturning a Supreme Court decision and enacting the Credit Union Membership Access Act of 1998.

Mr. Bosack graduated with honors from Boston College in 1987, earning a double major in both Communications and Economics. He later became a member of the International Economics Honor Society.
