Missions Supported by the ISE

End-to-end mission process improvement is at the heart of building the ISE. The primary focus of the ISE is any mission process, anywhere, which has a material impact on detecting, preventing, disrupting, responding to, or mitigating terrorist activity. End-to-end mission processes are operated by ISE mission partners and directly support frontline law enforcement, public safety, homeland security, intelligence, defense, and diplomatic personnel. They encompass a broad range of activities and include processes that support alerts and notifications; suspicious activity report gathering, vetting, and sharing; terrorist watchlist maintenance and use; and other activities and processes with direct mission impact.

To succeed, we must update, balance, and integrate all of the tools of American power and work with our allies and partners to do the same. Our military must maintain its conventional superiority...while continuing to enhance its capacity to defeat asymmetric threats...We must invest in diplomacy and development capabilities and institutions in a way that complements and reinforces our global partners. Our intelligence capabilities must continuously evolve to identify and characterize conventional and asymmetric threats and provide timely insight. An we must integrate our approach to homeland security with our broader national security approach.
