10/4/2010 - RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFNS) -- Officials are conducting an Air Force-wide exercise Oct. 6 through 8 to test the Air Force Personnel Accountability and Assessment System.

An exercise execution order will identify the geographic area of interest in which all personnel assigned to, living in, TDY to or on leave in that area, must be accounted for.

Those personnel should log into AFPAAS at https://afpaas.af.mil/ to account for themselves and their family members, as well as, complete the needs assessment survey.

AFPAAS is a web-based application used to account for and assess the needs of the Air Force total force including active-duty Airmen, selected Reserve members, Department of the Air Force and non-appropriated fund civilian employees, Air Force contractors overseas, and family members.

"The purpose of the exercise is to provide feedback to all levels of command on our preparedness to use AFPAAS for personnel accountability and assessments," said Brian Angell, the Air Force Personnel Center Personnel Readiness Cell operations chief. "AFPAAS is a simple and secure system for all users. Anyone can input their details from any internet connection or telephone worldwide."

If assigned personnel do not have access to a computer the member will need to contact their unit control center and the UCC will account for them, and if requested, complete the needs assessment survey in AFPAAS.

Those members who do not have access to a computer or are unable to contact their UCC need to contact the AFPC Personnel Readiness Cell at 800-435-9941 or DSN 665-2020.

"It is critical that commanders and directors ensure all affected personnel accomplish their accountability actions in support of this exercise," said Col. James Horton, the director of Air and Space Expeditionary Force and Personnel Operations at AFPC. "Statistics will be gathered and reviewed by Air Force leadership."

Commanders and directors at all levels are encouraged to review subordinate participation during the same time frame in AFPAAS.

The exercise will not test continuity of operations plans, military support to civil authorities, etc., nor require relocation of equipment or personnel. Responses to assessment needs surveys will be simulated.

To use the system log into https://afpaas.af.mil or call 800-435-9941 or DSN 665-2020 to report individual and family member status.

The AFPAAS link is also found on the AFPC website at www.afpc.randolph.af.mil and Air Force Portal at https://www.my.af.mil/faf/FAF/fafHome.jsp.
