USPTO Announces Kick Off of E-Government Customer Training

USPTO Announces Kick Off of E-Government Customer Training

PRESS RELEASE

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) will begin a series of training seminars on the electronic filing of trademark applications and other documents, Thursday, February 7 in Los Angeles. The USPTO has proposed the mandatory electronic filing of trademark applications and other trademark-related documents in a notice of proposed rulemaking published August 30. In addition to Los Angeles, seminars are scheduled in New York City, February 22; Fort Lauderdale, March 4; Philadelphia, April 3; and Cleveland, April 23. The Patent and Trademark Depository Libraries in those cities will host the sessions, which are free to the public.

Commissioner for Trademarks Anne Chasser will lead the seminars, which will feature a demonstration of the Trademark Electronic Filing System (TEAS) and "nuts-and-bolts" perspectives from applicants who have actually used the system. Craig Morris, TEAS Project Manager, also will be on hand to answer questions.

"These seminars are extremely important to us as we strive toward our goal of maximizing the use of electronic filing," Commissioner Chasser commented. "The training sessions will not only give us an opportunity to educate attendees about the many advantages of using TEAS, they also will allow us to get valuable feedback from our customers that will enable us to improve our electronic government offerings."

Additional information on the seminars is available on the USPTO's Web site, at http://www.uspto.gov/web/trademarks/egov.htm .
