USPTO to Host Free Two-Day Seminar on Protecting Against Intellectual Property Theft in China

The USPTO China Road Show comes to Alexandria

Washington - The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) will host a free, two-day seminar designed to educate businesses on how to protect against intellectual property (IP) theft in China as part of its China Road Show April 6-7 at USPTO Headquarters in Alexandria, Va. As of 2010, China continues to be the number one source of counterfeit products seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, accounting for 61 percent of all seizures.

The program will feature IP specialists from the U.S. Government along with experts from the American and Chinese private sectors. Presentations will offer guidance on protecting and enforcing trademarks and patents in China and global intellectual property strategy for small businesses, including case studies illustrating principles in practice, and real world stories and practical tips from companies on the frontline of IP rights protection and enforcement in China.

All companies interested in learning about how to protect their products from counterfeiting and piracy are welcome to attend.  The USPTO China Road Show/Alexandria is the latest in a series of two-day China IP events that the USPTO is hosting across the country to help educate businesses about the realities of piracy and counterfeiting, which cost the U.S. economy approximately $250 billion annually.

The seminar is free and open to the public but registration is required by April 5.  For more information, go to: http://events.SignUp4.com/ChinaRoadShowAlexandria.
