Assistant Secretary Brenda Dann-Messier to Visit Cedar Rapids Correctional Education Programs

Assistant Secretary for Vocational and Adult Education Brenda Dann-Messier will visit Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Wednesday, Sept. 26, where she will hold roundtable discussions on corrections education programs designed to help incarcerated individuals gain the necessary life skills they will need in their post-release lives. Dann-Messier will meet with instructors, correctional administrators and others to discuss current services, needs and opportunities to improve reentry success through education.
Dann-Messier administers the Education Department's programs in adult, career and technical education, as well as community colleges and correctional education. Also attending will be John White, deputy assistant secretary for rural outreach at the U.S. Department of Education.
