Reclamation Releases Final Environmental Documents for Drought Assistance Projects on Indian Reservations in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties in California

The Bureau of Reclamation has released four Final Environmental Assessments and Findings of No Significant Impact (EA/FONSI) for drought assistance projects on Indian Reservations in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties in California.  Reclamation will provide funding under Title IV of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 to California Indian Tribes who are experiencing effects due to the prolonged drought.

  • The Blue Lake Rancheria will construct a combination community/irrigation well to provide a dependable source of water to reduce fire risk to tribal housing units as well as provide a water source for the proposed campground/RV park and existing and planned future housing.  Documents may be viewed online.

  • The Trinidad Rancheria will construct one new well which will supplement the tribe's water source from the City of Trinidad if/when drought conditions result in the reduction of the Rancheria's water supply. Documents may be viewed online

  • The Resighini Rancheria will construct one new well and water line which will provide a dependable source of drinking water to tribal members and will supplement their current water supply in the event that their existing well fails.  Documents may be viewed online.

  • Reclamation will provide ARRA funds to Big Lagoon Rancheria tribal members in Humboldt County, California, to develop new production wells.  One well will supply water for residents and the other will be used as a back up well.  Documents may be viewed online.

The Final EAs/ FONSIs were developed to meet requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act. If you encounter problems accessing documents online, please call 916-978-5100 (TDD 916-978-5608) or e-mail mpPublicAffairs@usbr.gov.
