US Public Health Service Veterinarians provide expertise in their assignments to Federal and other governmental agencies in many disciplines, including the areas of epidemiology, pathology, toxicology, and lab animal medicine.

Veterinarians possess a unique background which also qualifies them to serve in public health leadership roles in areas such as administration, planning, and coordination. The officers who serve in the USPHS Veterinary Category are called on to promote, improve, and defend the health and well-being of all species; respond to natural and man-made disasters; and enhance knowledge of public health diseases and methods of prevention.

Mentor Application now available

The USPHS Veterinary Category mentoring application is now available online. You can use this application to indicate if you want to be a mentor, mentee, or both. Based on the submission, the mentorship committee can try to match up mentees with potential mentors.

The USPHS Veterinary Category Site Updated!

The USPHS Veterinary Category website has been updated. Visitors are now able to request to be added to the Category Listserv. In addition, this RSS feed is at the top of each page. Please feel free to send us feed back regarding the new site.
