Program Asset Investments

The U.S. Department of Energy is responsible for tracking deployment of investments made through the Smart Grid Investment Grant (SGIG) Program and Smart Grid Demonstration Program (SGDP). Information from these programs help inform stakeholders of the impacts,  benefits, lessons learned, and best practices involving  smart grid technologies, tools, and techniques.

SGIG Program Asset Investments

Assets  include hardware, software, and programs that enable smart grid functions. The chart below shows assets implemented through the SGIG Program by the type of system. The chart shows equipment that is installed and operational to date. The estimates shown below are based on the project plans submitted by the 99 recipients and include both public and private investments, reflecting the entire value of the program.
