Orlando Auciello

Senior Physicist

Orlando Auciello is a senior scientist in the Materials Science Division and the Center for Nanoscale Materials at Argonne, and adjunct professor in three U.S. universities. Auciello’s research interests are on the science and technology of oxide thin films for ferroelectric memories, high-K dielectrics for CMOS and high-frequency devices.

He has also worked with diamond and other nanocarbon films for RF micro- and nano-switches, mechanical resonators, cold cathodes, flat panel displays, micro X-ray sources and mass spectrometers for space exploration.

His interests also include ultrananocrystalline diamond (UNCD) films for MEMS/NEMS, biomedical devices and biosensors such as microchips for artificial retinas, growth of stem cells, differentiation for developmental biology and UNCD electrodes for neural prosthesis.
