Direct Import Requirements

Suppliers providing imported merchandise where The Exchange is the importer of record or FOB Origin terms are agreed upon must pay special attention to paragraph 24 of The Exchange Retail Agreement (ARA) and the protocols described in this section.

The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 brought about sweeping changes to the direct import landscape. Children’s products for 12 years of age and younger were especially affected. All children’s products must be tested by an accredited third-party laboratory before the merchandise is exported.

Failure to follow The Exchange protocols and procedures may result in fines, penalties and / or cancelled orders.
