From the Overview of NGP Standards and Specifications, select the desired standards topic and click. For documents produced prior to 2010, a table indicating the standards documents for that topic, a brief description of the standard, number of pages, file size, and version date will display on your system. Copying Text or Graphics

Text and (or) graphics within a PDF document maybe copied and then pasted into other applications. If you are using an Adobe Reader X (Version 10.1.0) or the full version of Acrobat, use the "Select Tool," on the Acrobat toolbar, select the item you want to copy, then right-click your mouse and select copy. This places the text, column, or graphic into your clipboard so you can paste into other applications. This can be done whether you are using the Adobe Reader or the full version of Acrobat as a WEB browser plug-in or as a standalone application.

Additional Information

NGP standards and subsequent updates or changes dated prior to 2010 were approved and authorized by the National Mapping Division Standards Review Board. Beginning in 2010 standards and specifications are published according to the USGS Fundamental Science Practices (FSP) policies. The standards are current as of the version date indicated. Standards documents may be periodically updated to reflect changes in policy or to define new or improved data and map specifications.

Also offered are standards that are in the draft stage of the approval process. These documents are labeled "DRAFT." Some documents have approval for use by USGS contractors and for USGS internal production. These particular documents are labeled "DRAFT FOR IMPLEMENTATION." All draft documents are subject to change without notice!

Brief descriptions and overviews of the National Geospatial Program standards are available at the NGP Standards Home page under the "Overview of Standards" section.
