Puerto Rico's agreement lists the following species:
Endangered
- Blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus)
- Fin whale (Balaenoptera physalus)
- Hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata)
- Humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae)
- Leatherback sea turtle (Dermochelys coriacea)
- Sei whale (Balaenoptera borealis)
- Sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus)
Threatened
- Elkhorn coral (Acropora palmata)
- Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas)
* Green turtles are listed as threatened, except for breeding populations of green turtles in Florida and on the Pacific coast of Mexico, where they are listed as endangered. - Loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta)
- Staghorn coral (Acropora cervicornis)
Note: To be eligible for funding through the Species Recovery Grants program, species listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) must be covered by the State's section 6 agreement. Proposed and candidate species that occur in the State do not need to be listed on the agreement to be eligible for funding.
