Associate Under Secretary for Communications
Joanne M. (Jo) Caldwell, Associate Under Secretary for Communications, manages congressional and media relations for the Under Secretary and Office of Economic Affairs, as well as providing oversight and strategic guidance of public relations activities for the Census Bureau, BEA, and other offices within ESA. Ms. Caldwell has worked in congressional and public relations for more than 20 years, with nine years as the Chief and Deputy Chief of Congressional Affairs at the Census Bureau. She completed her studies in psychology at Chaminade University while a member of the United States Air Force, and has done graduate work in public administration at American University.
