Today the hatchery is an integral part of the community in Orangeburg, South Carolina and has served a critical role in fisheries conservation in the Southeast. Listen to the interview with hatchery manager Willie Booker, as he describes the work that Orangeburg does and invites the public to attend a special centennial celebration event on September 28, 2011.

Interior Secretary Announces Nearly $27 Million for Wetlands Grants for Migratory Birds, $3 Million for Wildlife Refuge Acquisitions -- (Overview) - Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar announced today that the Migratory Bird Conservation Commission approved spending more than $3 million from the Migratory Bird Conservation Fund to protect an estimated 1,600 acres of waterfowl habitat on 3 units of the National Wildlife Refuge System.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service shorebird biologist Greg Breese from the Coastal Program discusses the relationship between shorebirds, horseshoe crabs, and climate change.

Director Dale Hall Speaks at the Wonders of Wildlife Museum (c) Video Courtesy of Bass Pro Shops Nation's River Bass Tournament at National Harbor - (Video) -- Recently, the Service helped sponsor the Nation's River Bass Tournament at National Harbor. Local schoolchildren had the opportunity to ride in bass boats and learn fishing from volunteer professional fishing guides. Service employees instructed students fishing from the piers. In addition, students learned about a variety of environmental issues. Wes McNealy, Director of Corporate Environment Services at Potomac Energy and Power Company (PEPCO), gives a short interview on their progress on producing renewable energy and examples of local renewable projects in the Washington, D.C. area.
