Synonym(s): coitus, sexual relation, sexual intercourse, sexual act, have sexual relations.

Observation: Perhaps because of English language influence, the structure "tener sexo" has become popular for "tener relaciones sexuales." Sexo (sex) in Spanish standing as a word alone means biological sexual attributes that determine if a person is male or female.

Observaciones: Quizá por influencia del inglés, la estructura de "tener sexo" (sexo oral, sexo anal, sexo vaginal, etc.) se ha popularizado para referirse a "tener relaciones sexuales." Sexo en español cuando está por sí sola se refiere a los atributos sexuales biológicos que determinan si una persona es hombre o mujer (varón o hembra). El uso de la palabra "sexo" (por ejemplo, sexo oral, sexo anal, etc) en lugar de "relación sexual" en algunos entornos podría causar ambigüedad si no se provee un contexto adecuado sobre temas de educación sexual, sexualidad o prevención.
