PFC Charles Landeros

Charles talks about the pride he takes in working on Blackhawks and the camaraderie that comes with being a Soldier.

My name is PFC Landeros. I'm a 15 Tango (15T) UH60 Blackhawk Maintainer. I joined the Army because I wanted to become a pilot; it's been my dream ever since I was a little kid. And I have chosen a route to become a Blackhawk Crew Chief and get some experience on the aircraft before I become a Warrant Officer and a Pilot.
Yeah, I definitely enjoy the camaraderie, it's pretty tight knit. A lot of us come from all around the world literally. I have a lot of people from the Philippines, just different countries in my platoon. It's amazing how we all come together, and work together to the one single project of getting the helicopter back in the air as fast as possible.
I compare myself to my peers a lot from high school. Like, I'll call back home, and ask them what they're up to. A lot of them will be working at Wal-Mart or flipping hamburgers, I see myself working on a multi-billion dollar aircraft, and it makes me proud to know that what I do as a living, keeps people alive up in the air. It's a lot of responsibility, and I'm proud that they trust me with it.
