LISA WEBER - August 25, 2009

Will you be having any Health Care town Hall meetings in Indianapolis this fall?

Jonathan Young - August 25, 2009

I would encourage Mr. Burton to have a meeting in Indianapolis or Greenwood. I would like to attend one of these. Based on the congressman's postings on Healthcare and Cap & Trade, it seems he's more interesting in polarizing the issue than forming a consensus. I'm tired of Republican and Democratic talking points. The fervor that accompanies these doomday warnings is misinformative and approximate at best. Even the Republicans are supporting a quasi-socialist system of medicine where private insurers group risk through employer plans or on a regional basis for individuals. Sadly, I think I've missed the debate on the two largest issues revolving around the healthcare system. 1) Will we ever be able to reverse the medical cost trend? Defensive medicine, lack of preventative medicine, inproper utilization, tort issues and a host of other problems make it sound like we will never transform the population to a point where medical costs start to drop. 2) Assuming that we lack the ability to properly control or encourage a healthier nation, why not be a true Capitalist or Republican and support a purely individual healthcare system? Some of us do try to watch our health and make the right choices. We should a single mom have no coverage because of it's costs when it's costs are being increased by some rich fatcat that can afford to personally pay for his fifth by-pass but he also can afford to pay premiums so he can pass that cost on to the rest of the group? My beef is, Mr. Burton, that I don't know if you're really interested in fixing my problems or protecting the interest of private industry. I work for an insurance company Mr. Burton. I'm only 23; however, I do know there are times in life where one must choose between his loyalities and the right thing to do. I think the right thing to do is to honestly debate our healthcare system and not hop on the bandwagon of our loyalties so that we can avoid the hard truths of our health decisions.

Janet Donoho - August 25, 2009

I wish to comment on the heath care we need so bad for people who do not have any. People are going into debt for health care with the rising cost. Also I am concerned for the illegal aliens who should not be allowed the right for health care while it is my tax dollars paying for government bills and they are not paying their fair share of taxes and are getting all the benifits while they are here.

Patricia Redstone - August 26, 2009

Dear Representative Burton: I am behind your views on Empowering Patients First. I sincerely hope for our nation's future that representatives like you will be able to stop the government-based health plan reforms that are being proposed.
