Visa Applications
1. Pay your SEVIS fee online (if you are seeking a J-1 or F-1 visa)
2. Choose where you will submit your visa application
3. Complete the DS-160 Visa Application online
4. Attend the visa interview at the US Consulate
5. Contact Fermilab to confirm your travel plans
6. Travel to the U.S and arrive at Fermilab
Most non-U.S. citizens who want enter the U.S.A. need a U.S. visa to do so.
A "visa" is the stamp in your passport that is issued to you by a U.S. Consulate. U.S. Consulates are operated by the U.S. Department of State in countries with which the U.S. has formal relations. There is no way to obtain a new visa stamp while physically in the U.S.
