Burton Statement On Navy SEAL Matt McCabe Being Found Not Guilty
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Dan Burton (R-IN-05) issued the following statement after Navy SEAL Matt McCabe was found not guilty of all charges related to the alleged abuse of an al-Qaeda terrorist detainee:
"My heartfelt congratulations go to Petty Officer McCabe and his family. I know they have endured many stressful months in anticipation of this trial. With all three Navy SEALs now cleared of all charges in this case, I believe this sends a very positive signal to the men and women in uniform who are fighting for America around the world today.
"I join the many thousands of Americans who cheer for SEALs McCabe, Keefe, and Huertas tonight, and on behalf of the 35,000 who signed my petition for these three heroes, I thank them for their honorable service, and welcome them back to duty."

Congressman Dan Burton, I again thank you for all your support of the Navy Seals while they sat in wonder of what the future may hold for them. I have served and been in Law Enforcement for 21 years this year and can say without the support of people like yourself and the honest straight foward nature that you put forth your support for men and women like these Navy Seals they do not get a voice. I signed my name in support of this Seals and thank them for their service and truly the message is clear. "We the people support our millitary and trusted leaders". The three Navy Seals proved again why they are Navy Seals and honor is not just a word to them. God Bless them, their families and you Congressman Burton you are a true leader in my mind. I have been following this story with some interest. Navy seals, Brittish SAS, military all over train hard and fight easy to serve their countries with honour. These three brave men did not deserve their names to be associated with such slander. I have friends who risk their lives on active duty today, be it in regular military or private work, so i am so glad that these guys are back where they belong, alongside their comrades, friends and their families. Good luck to all three of you for the future
