Last week, the United States Supreme Court issued its ruling in the cases challenging the constitutionality of ObamaCare.  The 5-4 vote upheld President Barack Obama’s trillion-dollar government takeover of our nation’s healthcare system—including the individual mandate to purchase health insurance—as constitutional under Congress’ taxing power.  Unfortunately, this decision has paved the way for ObamaCare and its mandate to collectively represent the biggest tax hike on Americans in history—raising taxes on working families by over $500 Billion.  The Congressional Budget Office has said that 76% of those who pay the mandate tax will earn less than $120,000 per year.  Check out the “Final Tab” by clicking HERE.  

The President’s health care law has been making things worse for Americans by driving up health costs and making it harder for small businesses to hire workers.  The only way to alter course is to repeal ObamaCare in its entirety.  I am disappointed that the Court did not side with the majority of Americans who are concerned with this law.  However, Republicans in Congress must now vote to repeal ObamaCare in its entirety and to enact commonsense, step-by-step reforms that protect Americans’ access to the care they need, from the doctor they choose, at a lower cost.

The Court’s decision to uphold the power of Congress to require Americans to purchase health insurance has greatly diminished our Constitution of limited, enumerated federal powers and proven that elections truly do matter.  It’s now more important than ever that we elect Republicans to the Senate and the White House this fall to join the House in repealing ObamaCare.
