Comments on proposed LOCAL RULE changes are being accepted

August 17 – September 11, 2009

A local rules revision cycle was initiated earlier in the year that included phases for the bar to provide suggestions and make subsequent comments to resulting proposed changes. Based on these phases, detailed and summary versions of the proposed revisions have now been compiled for public comment from August 17 to September 11.

The packages and associated links can be found at:

http://www.flnb.uscourts.gov/court_info/local_rules.aspx

All comments are to be provided to Bill Miller, the chair of the local rules committee, either by e-mail at:

billmillerlaw@gmail.com

or on-line at:

http://www2.flnb.uscourts.gov/feedback/

Once this phase is complete, the final steps will be to obtain required confirmations from the U.S. District Court and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, with a planned effective date for the new rules of December 1, 2009.

REMINDER: CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE REQUIREMENTS

The Administrative Procedures for Electronic Filing (Section II, B) requires attorneys filing electronically to serve pleadings electronically to registered participants of the ECF system. For parties who have opted out of electronic service or who are not registered participants, attorneys are required to serve the pleading in accordance with applicable rules. The pleading should include a Certificate of Service reflecting which parties have been served electronically or by other means. If no Certificate of Service is included in the pleading, an Order to Effect Service will be issued directing you to serve the parties before the pleading can be considered.
