Coble Nominates 8 to Service Academies

Washington, Mar 24, 2011 -           Eight students who were nominated to the nation's military academies by U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC) have recently received appointments.  Congressman Coble said today that the students come from Davidson, Guilford, Moore, and Randolph counties.
          Five students received appointments to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Josh Burress of Beavercreek Road in Randleman is a senior at Southeast Guilford High School.  Josh’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Burress. Matthew Honeycutt and Stuart Leonard, both residents of Lexington, are seniors at Central Davidson High School.  Matthew lives on Spartan Drive and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Honeycutt.  Stuart lives on Stoney Creek Lane and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Art Leonard.  Landon Kinsey of Rockford Road in Greensboro is a senior at Page High School.  Landon’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kinsey.  John Stewart lives on Winding Trail in Whispering Pines and attends Union Pines High School.  He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vince Stewart.
          Receiving appointments to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, are David Lee and Brendan McKinley.  David is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joon Lee, and is a senior at Western Guilford High School.  He lives on Brassfield Road in Greensboro.  Brendan, a senior at Pinecrest High School, is the son of Mr. Michael McKinley and Mrs. Brenda Stenerson and lives on Juniper Creek Boulevard in Pinehurst.
          Ryan Le has received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.  Ryan attends the Penn-Griffin School for the Arts and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lang Le.  Ryan lives on Edgewater Street in High Point.
          “This brings to eight the number of our nominees who have received appointments for the upcoming school year,” Rep. Coble added.  “Our nation’s service academies agreed with our assessment that we were blessed with a group of outstanding young men and women.”
