Lamborn Supports Stepped Up Sanctions Against Iran

Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 2194, the Iran Refined Petroleum Sanctions Act of 2009, by a vote of 412 to 12.

“Time and time again the government of Iran has defied the international community and made their intentions clear — to acquire nuclear weapons. This bill targets those who help supply Iran with gasoline by imposing sanctions. This will equip President Obama with the tools to put more pressure on the government of Iran to end their uranium enrichment program. While the people of Iran continue to be denied basic human rights, the government of Iran continues to engage in nuclear proliferation activities and support terrorist groups. A nuclear Iran poses a dramatic threat to its neighbors, the United States, and our allies. The passage of this bill demonstrates Congress’ bipartisan commitment to ensure targeted, effective action is taken.”—Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)

Congressman Lamborn is a cosponsor of H.R. 2194.
