National and Homeland Security
Since 1949, Idaho National Laboratory has been at the forefront of developing innovative technology and proven solutions that are saving lives from the home front to the battlefield.
Our legacy in national security spans nearly six decades and includes the development of nuclear propulsion technology for the U.S. Navy and the manufacturing of heavy armor for military combat vehicles.
Today, our efforts to secure the United States continue. Recent international events - from the global war on terror to the threat of nuclear weapons - have led INL to formulate the following three National and Homeland Security mission areas.
- Critical Infrastructure Protection
- Nuclear Nonproliferation
- Wireless Communications
Within each of these areas, we use our scientific expertise, engineering discipline and unique infrastructure assets to meet the daily challenges faced by our military, law enforcement and homeland security customers.
