THE FORTUNE SOCIETY BREAKS GROUND ON 114 UNITS OF AFFORDABLE "GREEN" HOUSING
On February 19, 2009, we celebrated the groundbreaking of our 110,000-square-foot, mixed-use, green affordable housing development at 140th Street and Riverside Drive. It will be adjacent to the Fortune Academy, our phased-permanent housing program.
This new center will provide long-term housing solutions for homeless people with incarceration histories and for low-income individuals and families of Harlem and the larger New York City community.
To commemorate the occasion, we were joined by Mayor Bloomberg, Representative Charles Rangel, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, Speaker Christine Quinn, and Councilmember Robert Jackson, among many other key state and city stakeholders.
