CONGRESSMAN DOUG LAMBORN ISSUES STATEMENT ON RECENT DEATH OF RAY POWERS

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Lamborn today released the following statement upon the death of Ray Powers, patriarch of the El Paso County Republican Party, on Friday, September 19, 2008:

“Former Colorado State Senate President Ray Powers was a staunch advocate of many Republican values, including self-reliance, frugality and accountability. He believed that government should stick to the essentials and only do those things that people could not do as well themselves. He always told it like it was. Jeanie and I have many wonderful memories of working with him over the years. Colorado is a better place for his having served. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Dorothy, and their children and grandchildren.”- Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)
