The current issue of the Defense AT&L Magazine is available online (http://www.dau.mil/pubscats/Pages/DefenseAtl.aspx) and contains some interesting articles very relevant for Program Management folks. Among them John Krieger continues his discussion on “Knowing and Loving your KO” offering insights on building that key relationship. Additionally Stephen Devaux introduces the concept of Critical Path “Drag” a scheduling approach which may be new to many folks that instead of looking at Non-Critical path timelines (e.g. Float), focuses on reducing the Critical Path overall length by investing in Drag reduction – an idea so basic you may wonder why we don’t do more of it.
The Acquisition Reform Journal is also online (http://www.dau.mil/pubscats/Pages/arj_new.aspx) with several reports, including one from Col Peter K. Eide, USAF, and COL Charles D. Allen, USA (Ret.) looking at the cultural side of managing major policy initiatives: “The More Things Change, Acquisition Reform Remains The Same”. That one should make you ask yourself “just what exactly am I doing to successfully implement the Better Buying Power Initiatives?”.
