Sustainable Energy Resources for Consumers (SERC) Grants

The Sustainable Energy Resources for Consumers, or SERC, Grants were created to allow local weatherization agencies to install weatherization materials and technologies that have promise for energy savings and benefits to customers, however cannot currently be installed under the traditional Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP).  These projects were awarded for the first time ever in August of 2010 through funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.  The projects will install and test the effectiveness of a variety of technologies including solar electricity, wind energy generation, various hot water heating technologies, in-home energy monitors, heat pumps, cool roofs, among others. You can read more about each project here.

SERC was created by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, Section 411(b).
