Training for Caseworkers
As child welfare caseworkers begin their careers, they should receive core/foundation training on casework practice in their chosen field (in areas such as prevention, child protective services, out-of-home care, reunification, permanency planning, and adoption). After they have received training on the basic casework practice principles needed to perform effectively on the job, they should also receive training in topical areas to assist them in their continuing professional growth and development. The following sections offer training curricula and materials in core/foundation practice areas and on specific topics of interest to child welfare professionals.
