Rear Admiral Mark J. Belton

Born in Flemington, N.J., Rear Adm. Belton is currently serving as commander, Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group, Williamsburg, Va.  His previous flag assignments include reserve director, Logistics Programs and Corporate Operations Division (OPNAV N41); and director, Energy and Services Division, J9, U.S. Forces, Iraq at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad where he served as the senior force representative to the Iraqi Ministries of Oil and Electricity.

Belton graduated from the United States Naval Academy (USNA) in 1983. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Regis University, graduated from the United States Naval War College, College of Distance Education, as well as the Advanced Joint Professional Military Education program at the Joint Forces Staff College.

While on active duty, he served as division officer aboard USS Seattle (AOE 3); on the Supply Department staff at USNA; and as supply department head on USS De Wert (FFG 45).

Belton has served in a variety of reserve component assignments providing him extensive logistics and leadership experience including chief of staff, Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group; commanding officer, Naval Operational Logistics Support Center Headquarters; commanding officer, Naval Activities United Kingdom Det. 402; commanding officer, Defense Logistics Agency Defense Remediation Team Columbus; commanding officer, Submarine Support Facility New London Det. 1; chief staff officer, Supply Support Battalion Two; executive officer, Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Norfolk Headquarters; executive officer, Naval Supply Center Norfolk Det. B406; and Naval Audit Service Headquarters. In 2001, he was mobilized and served with the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo.

Belton is most proud of being part of outstanding organizations that were awarded the Joint Meritorious Unit Citation, the Navy Unit Commendation, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Navy Battle Efficiency Award.

In his civilian career, he has served in a variety of state and local government leadership positions including executive director, Pride of Baltimore, Inc.; county administrator, Queen Anne’s County, Md.; and assistant secretary, Maryland Department of Natural Resources and, currently, as county administrator, Page County, Va.
