- Basic Qualifications
- Meet basic enlistment eligibility requirements IAW AR 601-210
- Be at least 18 years old at the time of RA Enlistment and not passed 33rd birthday at the time of selection. Age waivers will be considered on a case by case basis.
- No age adjustment for Prior Service Applicants for the WOFT Program
- AFAST Score of 90 or Higher
- GT Score of 110 or Higher. (No Exceptions)
- High school diploma. If the applicant has a GED he/she must complete 15 semester hours of college level courses
- High School seniors may apply
- Must be a U.S. Citizen. (No Exceptions)/
- All applicants must meet HT/WT standards IAW AR 600-9
- Pass a Class 1 Flight Physical that is approved by The US Army Aero-Medical Center (USAAMC), Fort Rucker, AL. All Flight Physicals are forwarded to the USAAMC for review and approval. (It is recommended that the Recruiter conduct a timely follow-up to ensure that the physical has been forwarded from issuing facility to Fort Rucker). Any questions concerning physicals at Fort Rucker should be addressed to Mr. Garcia at (334)598-8955.
- Service Obligation
- 3 year active duty service obligation upon enlistment for WOFT. Upon completion of Warrant
Officer Candidate School there is a 6 year service obligation
- If applicant does not complete the Warrant Officer Candidate School they are still obligated for the remaining of their enlistment option

- Moral Waiver Procedures
- All WOFT applicants must meet the following standard.
- WOFT appointment eligibility (AR 135-100 and UR 601-91)
- Waivers are not processed by USAREC waivers section
- WOFT appointment moral waivers must be forwarded to HRC for review
- All packets requiring moral waivers should be processed and boarded at the Battalion prior to the packet review by G-3 Special Programs.
- After the packet is complete the moral waiver will be forwarded to HRC
- Documents needed in order to process a waiver are
- USAREC Form 1037
- USAREC Form 1227
- WOFT appointment eligibility (AR 135-100 and UR 601-91)
- All WOFT applicants must meet the following standard.
- Boards
- Battalion Boards will consist of a panel of three Commissioned Officers; one must be an Aviator Officer.
- Exceptions will be granted if there are no Aviator Officers assigned to the Battalion
- Area of emphasis:
- Neatness/ Grooming
- Enthusiasm/ Motivation
- Maturity
- Decisiveness
- Self expression
- Confidence
- Composure
- Attitude towards the military
- Personal affairs in order
- At a minimum, 2 of the 3 board members must recommend for WOFT
- HQ USAREC Board (Selection) DA Centralized Selection Board consisting of three or more officers. Applicant's application is boarded and the most competitive applicants are selected based upon available training seats and the needs of the Army.
- HQ USAREC will notify the Recruiting Battalion of selected and non-selected applicants.
- Board results are posted to the G3 Web page shortly after the release, usually 48 hours after the board convenes.
- Applicants are automatically re-boarded a second time if non-selected on their first look. (The following month).
- Recommendation on a Successful Process
- Spend the time to get good letters of recommendations
- Use highly influential people that personally know the applicant
- Close all loops in the packet. It represents the applicant and the recruiter.
- Make sure all forms have legible signatures and branch
- Make sure that the Body Fat Sheet matches the UR FL 136
- Have more than one person review the packet to make sure it is complete.
