In today's society, school safety is a daily issue that ranges from classroom management to school incident command for crisis situations. The Kentucky Center for School Safety staff is committed to providing training, resources, information and research..

This website is available for planning, training or emergency assistance. Let us assist, as your schools plan and practice and prepare for the safest schools possible.

Throughout the year Kentucky Center for School Safety is available to schools across Kentucky. We strive be a "one stop shop" for school safety resources, training and assistance.

Kentucky Safe Schools Week - October 21-27, 2012

safe schools week logo         Bullying is widespread across our nation’s and Kentucky’s schools. This year’s Safe Schools Week theme “BULLYING: Be Part of the Cure” emphasizes the part each individual can play in stopping this harmful “disease” from becoming “viral”. During this campaign each student and staff member will be empowered to become “Part of the Cure” helping to do their part to stop bullying and create a safe respectful climate in their school.
      During Kentucky Safe Schools Week’s celebration resources are provided for media campaigns in your local communities, classroom lessons, webisodescurriculum, sample policies are provided.

  Floyd Co 4000 Pledges


Jeff Stumbo, Chairman of the Board of Floyd Co., holds his pledge. Floyd County Schools now has exceeded 3,500 BULLYING: Be Part of the Cure Pledges online.  This school system is dedicated to addressing the bullying issue and with each pledge "Caring, Understanding, Respecting and Educating" others about the "Cure" for bullying.

KCSS Announces... New Mobile Site

On any "Smart phone" or tablet, simply type in the www.kysafeschools.org  web address and the mobile site will appear. The primary purpose for the mobile site is quick and easy access to emergency procedures for K-12 schools. Basically the emergency procedures and planning are at your fingertips for fast access when the need arises.

What You Can Do to Help End Bullying... National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

While bullying doesn’t cause suicide, a stressful environment and persistent, emotional victimization can increase a person’s risk of suicide. Together, we can create awareness about the dangers of bullying and give emotional support to those who may be contemplating suicide.
